Meet the Artist
Artist Statement:
Watercolor captivated me immediately. Its remarkable balance between control and spontaneity continues to fascinate me. The dialogue between water, pigment, and paper creates subtle, often unpredictable effects that cannot be fully replicated in any other medium. It is this delicate interplay that makes every painting a unique and rewarding experience.
Working primarily in a realistic style, I am inspired by careful observation and a deep appreciation for the details of everyday life. My paintings seek to preserve fleeting moments, quiet atmospheres, and the beauty often hidden within ordinary subjects. Precision is an important part of my work, yet I deliberately leave room for watercolor's natural fluidity to shape the final image.
Creativity has been a constant presence in my life since childhood. Drawing and painting became my earliest means of expression, and throughout my school years I worked almost exclusively with graphite, exploring light, form, and texture long before color entered my artistic vocabulary.
Although my academic path led me into science - I earned a PhD in Molecular Medicine after studying Molecular Biology - my passion for art never disappeared. In 2017, I rediscovered watercolor, and with it an entirely new world of creative possibilities. What began as a reunion with a familiar medium quickly evolved into a lifelong artistic pursuit.
Following my move to Budapest in 2018, I joined the inaugural class of the Watercolor Academy, founded by the Hungarian branch of the International Watercolor Society (IWS Hungary). Under the guidance of renowned watercolor masters Sándor Szikszai and Ernő Nagy, I refined both my technical skills and artistic vision while becoming part of a vibrant community of watercolor artists. Committed to lifelong learning, I currently continue to develop my artistic practice under the guidance of my painting mentor, Dávid Utcai, constantly exploring new perspectives and refining my visual language.
My work has been exhibited in numerous national and international exhibitions, collaborative projects, and watercolor festivals. Today, my paintings are part of private collections in Hungary and abroad, including Slovakia, Romania, Slovenia, and other countries.
Beyond my own artistic practice, I am actively involved in the international watercolor community. I serve as a Co-Representative of IWS Hungary (International Watercolor Society – Hungarian Branch), contributing to the organization of exhibitions and professional events. I also work as a Country Platform Administrator for the International Watercolor Platform, supporting artists worldwide and facilitating participation in the annual FabrianoInAcquarello International Watercolor Convention.
Through my paintings, I hope to invite viewers to pause, observe more closely, and rediscover the quiet beauty that surrounds us. Each artwork is a personal interpretation of the world - an attempt to transform everyday moments into lasting visual experiences.
